I would like to share with you my thoughts and feelings regarding paternal anonymity on Millicent's blog.
When I initially started Millicent's blog, I was not going to mention you by name. This has evolved into finding pseudonyms for anyone from your side of Millicent's family.
Looking back, I did this was because I was continuing to put you and your wants/needs ahead of anyone else's. I have decided I am no longer going to continue keeping your side of Millicent's family anonymous. I have a few reasons. Here they are in no particular order.
- It is a fair assessment to say I have made you the center of all of the decisions I have made concerning Millicent for the past three years. As a seasoned veteran of the Parent Hood, I am sure you would agree she deserves to have each and every decision made about her life to be prayerfully centered on HER wants, needs, and desires.
- As you know, her blog is private. All those who have been invited to read her blog know of your identity.
- I have been pondering this in my head and heart, and I feel it is detrimental to Millicent to hide half of her lineage. I feel like I am condoning her being ashamed of the paternal side of her family, and by association, half of herself. She should have no reason to be ashamed of who her parents are.
- I'm angry with the choices you've been making recently. I feel you have been acting as if Millicent doesn't exist. She is you daughter. One of you four children. She is beautiful, brilliant, and just as worthy of the love, attention, and time you show your other children.
- I will no longer allow myself to enable you by removing any accountability you have for Millicent.
